How to Apply

Applying for any of our jobs is simple. The process involves three simple steps.
 
1. Use the search box to find the position you are interested in
 
You can do this by just going to the Vacancies menu item on the home page or entering a ref number (if you have seen the position advertised) or by entering a keyword in the search box. 
 
Answer our questionnaire
 
This is made up of general questions about your eligibility for the position as well as specific selection criteria questions.  Addressing the selection criteria is key to being considered for an interview so please take the time to highlight your skills and experience relevant to the position.  All Position Descriptions provide the key responsibilities for the role which will provide greater context for why particular aspects have been chosen for the selection criteria. If you have any questions or require clarification please call the contact person provided on the advert.
 
2. Upload your CV and Covering Letter
 
Simply upload your CV and Covering Letter onto our system by following a couple of simple steps.
 
Tips on Applying
 
  • You may find it useful to review the Position Description before starting the application process.
  • If you prepare your responses to the Selection Criteria in advance it will make the application process easier and faster. You are able to 'copy and paste' text into the application form. 
  • Ensure that your CV reflects your experience, skills and qualifications relevant to the position you are applying for.
  • Contact your referees in advance to ensure that they are willing to speak with us and that their contact details are up to date.  Please note that we ask for a minimum of two referees who you have reported to.

Shortlisting

Interviews
 
Council appoints people based on merit.  That is, the person deemed to be the most competent to undertake the duties of the position will be selected.
 
Conditions of Employment
 
  • Confirmation of all appointments is subject to a 6 month probation period during which time your performance and suitability will be reviewed by Council.
  • Subject to the above, conditions of employment covered under the conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2017 and Council's internal Policies and Procedures.
  • If required, your appointment could be subject to satisfactory completion of a pre employment medical at Council expense
  • Subject to any relevant pre employment checks such as Police and/or Working with Children checks.
  • Agreement to abide by the Code of Conduct and safety rules and procedures.
