We work closely with local schools and community members to develop work experience opportunities with the aim of allowing students to become familiar with positions/careers, employer expectations and working conditions.
As Council delivers a diverse portfolio of services, we are also able to offer a wide range of work experience from environmental services to marketing to administration. The number of work experience placements available with the Council depends on the ability of the work area to provide effective on-the-job experience at a time suitable to both the divisional area and the student.
Work experience is unpaid and to be considered eligible you must:
- Be a current secondary school or tertiary student.
- Be required to complete relevant nominal hours of practical experience as part of your course.
- Have a specific work area in mind.
- Have a specific date period.
- Be provided with insurance coverage by your educational institution for the duration of your work experience at Council.
